TMJ Replacement

If your temporomandibular joint (TMJ) has become compromised or damaged and you are experiencing severe pain and/or loss of function of your jaw, oral and maxillofacial surgeons at Jefferson will recommend a TMJ replacement.

What Does TMJ Replacement Involve?

A TMJ replacement is meant for those with complex forms of TMJ who continue to have severe problems. It involves fitting implants to the shape of your skull and lower jaw and replacing your jaw with these implants.

Our oral surgeons are specially trained in performing this procedure and will recommend specific postoperative care for a smooth recovery.
