Lower GI Series

Your physician may order a lower gastrointestinal (GI) series to obtain detailed X-ray images of your large intestine to detect abnormalities that might explain symptoms indicative of digestive disease, such as abdominal pain, bleeding or chronic diarrhea.

The information obtained through the procedure will aid your physician in making an accurate diagnosis for conditions such as polyps, diverticulitis and cancer. If disease is detected, your Jefferson medical team may perform further testing or develop a personalized treatment plan based on the precise nature of your condition and your individual needs.
