Hip replacement, also called arthroplasty, is a surgical procedure in which your hip is replaced with a prosthesis (an artificial joint). Surgery to replace the hip may be required if you have a serious hip fracture, arthritis or your joint has degenerated due to repetitive wear and tear.

Hip replacement surgeries at Jefferson are performed by orthopedic surgeons who set the standards of care for hip replacements. Our Joint Replacement Program is one of the nation's most prestigious, reflected in an impressive volume of more than 6,700 joint replacement surgeries performed annually.

All of our reconstructive surgeons have undergone advanced subspecialty training and are skilled in total joint replacement.
