Biofeedback Therapy

A complementary and alternative way of treating specific conditions is biofeedback, a method of learning how to gain voluntary control over bodily functions by using your mind. During biofeedback therapy, you're connected to sensors that measure relaxation to produce reduced muscle tension and normalized blood flow.

Jefferson's expert physical therapists utilize several exercises to help control your condition and teach you a series of exercises that you can do at home.

Some of the exercises performed include:

  • Static muscle scanning: measurement of muscles during movement
  • Stress training: helps patients cope with pain, fatigue and anxiety
  • Autogenic and relaxation training: guided-imagery techniques to visualize scenes or actions

Many people are searching for something more they can do for their health in addition to standard medical treatment. Our clinicians bring you more options and opportunities by integrating promising complementary therapies and high-quality care.
