Beck Depression Inventory

An inability to sleep, or insomnia, is one of the signs of depression. To determine whether or not your sleep is affected by depression, the sleep medicine specialists of the Jefferson Sleep Disorders Center will perform a Beck Depression Inventory® (BDI) to measure the intensity and depth of your depression symptoms.

Our sleep medicine specialists are trained in the use and interpretation of BDI. The BDI usually takes between three and five minutes to complete as part of a psychological or medical examination.

Individual questions of the BDI assess things like your irritability, social withdrawal, insomnia and fatigue.
