Jefferson Health System Appoints Anne Boland Docimo, MD, MBA, As Chief Medical Officer



Jefferson Health System announced the appointment of Anne Boland Docimo, MD, MBA, as Chief Medical Officer, the top clinical leader of Jefferson's integrated clinical enterprise. In this role, she will shape and influence the future of Jefferson Health System.

As CMO, Dr. Docimo will serve as a thought leader and catalyst, empowering physician leaders to successfully evolve and advance evidence-based and high-value care throughout Jefferson Health System. In partnership with Jefferson leadership, she will develop a fully-integrated, patient-centric faculty practice plan and will expand and grow relationships with employed and independent physicians through aligned and strategic economic incentives.;

"Her experience as the CMO for a health plan and senior medical director for a health system will be critical as we move forward under the One Jefferson model, particularly in the ever-changing landscape of healthcare."

An experienced and accomplished medical executive, Dr. Docimo served as CMO for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Health Plan and as Senior Medical Director for the Hospital Division of UPMC, a non-profit integrated health system operating more than 20 academic, community and specialty hospitals. All medical programs at UPMC Health Plan and all activities related to the delivery of health care, reported up through Dr. Docimo. Prior to her roles at UPMC, she was Director of Urgent Care and Community Medicine at Johns Hopkins Health System.

Dr. Docimo received her bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame and her MD from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She completed her residency in emergency medicine at Georgetown University/George Washington University, and earned a Certificate in Medical Management from Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Docimo also has an MBA from Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Docimo is certified by the American Board of Emergency Physicians.

Dr. Docimo authored numerous publications and is frequently an invited speaker and panelist. She serves on the Free Health Clinic Board of Directors, the Strategic Advisory Board for McKesson Corporation and is the Circle of Love Co-Chair for Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. Dr. Docimo is a member of multiple professional organizations including the American College of Physician Executives, American Medical Informatics Association, Pennsylvania Medical Society and the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Society.
