Surgeon Gurjyot Bajwa, M.D., Joins Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Jefferson; Boosts Robotic Surgery Program
Gurjyot Bajwa, M.D., has joined the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. She has also been named Instructor of Surgery at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University.
Dr. Bajwa most recently served as an instructor in cardiothoracic surgery and robotic cardiac surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Prior to this, she was clinical instructor in the Department of Surgery at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
She has special expertise in robotic cardiac surgery, a growing specialty area. Dr. Bajwa is a key component in Jefferson’s robotic and minimally invasive cardiac surgery program.
Dr. Bajwa completed a fellowship in adult cardiac surgery, congenital cardiac surgery and general thoracic surgery at Rush University Medical Center. She completed her internship and residency at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, serving as chief surgical resident in her final year. She is board-certified in thoracic surgery.
Dr. Bajwa received her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine. She holds an undergraduate degree in biology from Hope College.
