Vascular Malformations

If you are diagnosed with vascular malformations, including venous malformation (VM), lymphatic malformation (LM) or a combined vascular malformation, you can rely on the experienced radiologists of Jefferson's Department of Interventional Radiology and the Jefferson Vascular Center to provide the most advanced treatment of these conditions.

Treatment of arteriovenous malformations, or AVMs, is conducted in the Brain Aneurysm and AVM Center at Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience. One of the advantages of being treated for AVMs at Jefferson is that our Center is the largest in the Delaware Valley; our neurologists have evaluated and treated more than 5,000 patients with brain aneurysms and cerebral and spinal AVMS.

Jefferson dermatologists provide treatment of capillary malformation (CM), also known as port-wine stains. CMs are flat, sharply demarcated, red-pink staining of the skin and generally present after birth. Laser surgery is the most effective treatment of this condition and is performed in our Laser Surgery and Cosmetic Dermatology Center. This state-of-the-art Laser Center, located in Center City Philadelphia, houses six of the most advanced lasers for treating spider veins, vascular birth marks, age spots, wrinkles and other signs of photoaging.
