Varicose Veins

The medical team of the Jefferson Vascular Center and our Department of Interventional Radiology has the specialized expertise to help reduce the pain and severity of varicose veins. Veins that cause pain or other symptoms are prime candidates for treatment.

Our vascular surgeons and interventional radiologists are experienced in providing a range of varicose vein treatments, including endovenous laser treatment, and the minimally invasive Closure® procedure, which spares patients the postoperative pain and lengthy recuperation that follow procedures like vein stripping. Our team of physicians, nurses and pharmacists will coordinate your care and provide personalized consultations and follow-up visits.

Our interventional radiologists performed the first VenaSeal™ procedure at Jefferson,  making it the first of its kind to be performed at an academic hospital in Philadelphia. This procedure uses a medical adhesive for vein closure to treat venous insufficiency and varicose veins, allowing patients to walk out of the same-day procedure and immediately return to their daily activities.
