Jefferson University Hospitals

Blood diseases such as thrombocythemia, which can cause your blood not to clot properly, can be life-threatening if not diagnosed and treated properly.

You can feel confident that specialists in Jefferson's Division of Hematology and in the Cardeza Foundation for Hematologic Research are devoted to the diagnosis and care of patients with blood and lymphatic diseases and to researching the causes of these diseases.

Our physicians are experts in all areas of hematology, with in-depth experience in diseases affecting blood platelets, hemorrhagic (bleeding) and thrombotic (clotting) disorders, hematologic malignancies (leukemia, lymphoma and multiple myeloma) and other bone marrow disorders. In addition, our physicians have initiated and participated in a number of clinical trials of newer types of therapy for many of these disorders.
