Panic Disorder

If you or someone you care about is experiencing bouts of overwhelming fear or feelings of being in danger when there is no specific cause for the fear, you may have a panic disorder. Since panic disorders occur in children and adults, the experts of Jefferson's Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior can provide the expertise needed for both groups. Our staff focuses special attention on the consultation and treatment of the most common psychiatric problems and is also experienced in individual, couple, marital and family therapy; we serve child, adolescent and adult outpatient populations on a sliding-fee basis.

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Outpatient Services at Jefferson offer children, adolescents, their families and caretakers comprehensive diagnostic evaluation, psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, parent counseling and family therapy. A variety of clinical problems are treated including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), mood disorders, anxiety disorders (generalized anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder), pervasive developmental disorders and disruptive behavior disorders.
