Lupus (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus)

Systemic lupus erythematosus, or simply lupus, is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disorder that may cause damage to the joints, tendons and other connective tissues.

If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with lupus, Jefferson's Lupus Program physicians will tailor treatment to your specific needs. The goals of any treatment plan are to reduce inflammation, suppress your immune system, prevent flares, control symptoms such as joint pain and fatigue and minimize damage to organs.

Our physicians have particular expertise in the management of lupus patients during pregnancy and are actively involved in research and treatment of patients with disorders associated with the presence of antiphospholipid antibodies.
