Lumbar Strain (Weight Lifter's Back)

If you have suffered a lumbar strain or another injury to your lower back, it is critical to understand the extent of your injury in order to determine the correct course of treatment. Consistently rated among the best in the region for Orthopedics and Rehabilitation Medicine by U.S.News & World Report, Jefferson's multidisciplinary team of orthopedists, neurosurgeons, physiatrists (rehabilitation physicians) and radiologists can diagnose and treat your lumbar strain (also known as weight lifter's back). Our radiologists offer advanced sports imaging and have pioneered imaging diagnosis of many athletic injuries.

Jefferson's multidisciplinary focus can provide treatment for lumbar strain through our Sports Medicine Center. Our Center is one of the largest in the country, with more than 16 fellowship-trained sports medicine specialists. Each year we evaluate more than 40,000 athletes and perform more than 3,000 reconstructive surgeries related to athletic injuries. Our clients include weekend warriors and competitors from regional public and private schools, numerous collegiate teams, the U.S. Women's Gymnastics Team, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Philadelphia Phillies.

Outpatient Services

Outpatient consultation and rehabilitation therapy services are available to patients of all age ranges, including neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric. The rehabilitation therapists practice an interdisciplinary team approach, working with referring physicians, physiatrists (rehabilitation physicians), nurse practitioners and case managers to ensure comprehensive quality services are delivered.
