Helicobacter Pylori

The Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) bacterium can infect many people, but most never exhibit any symptoms or have any complications. For others, however, H. pylori can cause serious complications such as ulcers, inflammation of the stomach lining (gastritis) and stomach cancer. Since the Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) bacterium infection has been found to cause as much as 90 percent of stomach ulcers, the first step in ulcer treatment is usually to treat infection caused by H. pylori. Jefferson gastroenterologists (physicians who specialize in the digestive system and its disorders) have the necessary expertise to accurately diagnose and effectively treat H. pylori by eliminating the infection through medication therapy.
