If you have been diagnosed with a cataract, then seek treatment at the Cataract and Primary Eye Care (CPEC) Service at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. Wills Eye serves as Jefferson Health's Department of Ophthalmology. Our physicians see approximately 22,000 patients annually and perform routine eye exams; any serious cases are referred to one of Wills Eye's subspecialty services.

Each year, thousands of patients also undergo cataract surgery at Wills Eye, benefiting from the experience of world-class surgeons consistently rated among the best in the nation by U.S.News & World Report.

Specifically, the Cataract and Primary Eye Care Service provides:

  • Cataract surgery
  • Cataract screenings
  • Comprehensive eye examinations
  • Vision screenings
  • Refractive surgery
  • Contact lens examinations
  • Consultations with subspecialists in ophthalmology (such as neuro-ophthalmology)
  • Referrals to specialists in other medical disciplines (such as endocrinologists for diabetics)

The CPEC Service has nearly two dozen fully equipped examining rooms, staffed by highly trained resident physicians under the supervision of staff physicians.
