Binge Eating Disorder

Eating is a normal biological function and is often pleasurable. Yet for a person struggling with binge eating, it can be a source of tremendous stress and despair.

If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with binge eating, Jefferson Health's team of trained psychiatrists provide a multifaceted approach to developing a personalized treatment plan that may include a combination of medical care, psychotherapy, medication and nutritional therapy.

In severe cases, we can provide inpatient treatment at the Eating Disorders Program at the Belmont Center for Comprehensive Treatment. The Center offers family, group and individual therapy; art, psychodrama and movement therapies; and nutrition and cooking classes. The Center also offers treatment for patients who are dealing with depression, anxiety or alcohol and drug abuse.

Since binge eating is prevalent among adolescents, Jefferson Health's mental health professionals will work in conjunction with our partner in pediatrics, Nemours Children’s Health, which has an Eating Disorders Program for Adolescents.
