Acne Scarring

Acne is a common skin problem that not only affects teenagers but also adults. At Jefferson Health, we see an increasing number of adult patients with acne. Not everyone develops scarring as a result, and we cannot predict which patients will scar.

Patients can have a variety of different types of acne scars including "ice pick scars" (deep), "boxcar scars" (angular scars) and "rolling scars." Since there are many ways to treat acne scarring, it is important that patients choose a cosmetic surgeon who is skilled at a wide variety of procedures.

Treatment options at Jefferson can include scar revision, subcision, redness reduction, injection of soft tissue fillers to improve the appearance and laser resurfacing.
