Pigmented Lesion Clinic

If you are at a higher risk of developing melanoma, you can be evaluated and treated at the Pigmented Lesion Clinic at Jefferson.
Being at a higher risk includes a significant family history of melanoma, fair skin individual who burn rather than tan (skin phototype 1), if you have multiple moles or a personal history of melanoma.
Careful and methodical examination of pigmented lesions is performed via clinical dermatoscopic correlation and, when necessary, pathologic correlation as well. The clinic offers full body clinical examination, dermatoscopy, excisional biopsies of suspicious lesions, and histopathologic examination including review of any relevant past biopsy specimens.
