We are committed to providing comprehensive, whole-person care to support substance use disorder recovery in pregnant and parenting women. We offer a network of medical, psychological and social services to meet the challenges associated with recovery and parenthood.

Our MATER team will help you receive:

  • Insurance coverage
  • Government identification
  • Welfare benefits, including WIC, SNAP, transportation

Care Coordination & Case Management

  • Insurance coverage

  • Government identification

  • Welfare benefits, including WIC (Women, Infants & Children), SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and transportation

Medical Care

  • Prenatal care from Jefferson Health
  • Delivery care from Jefferson/Nemours Children’s Health pediatrics and neonatology
  • Coordination of specialist and general medical care for you and your child(ren)

Mental Health Care

  • Mental health check-ups with our staff psychiatrist
  • Continued therapy, including any needed prescriptions from our staff psychiatrist

Mindfulness Training

  • Mindfulness-Based Parenting (MBP)
  • Mindfulness-Based Family Support (MBFS)
  • Mindfulness-Based individual therapy

Individual Therapy & Peer Support

  • Strength-based treatment planning to meet your recovery needs
  • One-on-one sessions with an experienced therapist
  • One-on-one and group support with a certified peer specialist

Group Therapy

  • Yoga
  • Smoking cessation
  • Anger management
  • Life skills, like cooking and money management
  • 12-step meetings and support groups

Child Care

  • Safe environment for your child(ren) ages three months to six years while you attend therapy appointments
  • Parenting education
  • Child development assessment and referrals to services
  • Support navigating DHS (Department of Human Services) or Family Court

Medications for Opioid Use Disorder

  • Our team of experienced professionals will help find the right medication and dose for you
  • Methadone and buprenorphine (Subutex or Suboxone) can reduce cravings and prevent withdrawal

We take a multidisciplinary approach to care, partnering with specialists across Thomas Jefferson University. With our collective expertise and close collaboration, women and their children in our program receive exactly the care they need.
