Tests & Treatments

  • Acupuncture

  • Biopsy
    A biopsy is a procedure performed to remove tissue or cells from the body for examination under a microscope.

  • Brachytherapy
    Has been shown to be highly effective in treating many types of cancer, and is particularly effective for small, localized tumors.

  • CT Scan
    A series of X-rays that can be used to visualize nearly all parts of the body in 3-D is known as a CT scan.

  • Chemotherapy
    Chemotherapy has the ability to reach cancer that may have spread, even microscopically, throughout the body.

  • Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)
    This treatment is FDA approved for palliation of esophageal cancer and for other esophageal cancers which fail to respond to standard treatment.

  • Radiation Therapy
    If you are concerned with how radiation may affect your health, Jefferson physicians have made great strides in reducing the effects of radiation on normal tissue surrounding the tumor being treated.

  • Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)
    Radiofrequency ablation is a minimally invasive treatment of tumors of the liver, kidney, bone and lung; Barrett's esophagus; varicose veins; various pain conditions; and a wide variety of disorders where the heart beats too fast or sometimes irregularly, called cardiac arrhythmia.

  • Ultrasound
    Ultrasounds vary by condition, but consist of high-frequency sound waves to look at organs and structures inside the body.
