Wills Eye Emergency Department at Jefferson

Through our partnership with Wills Eye Hospital, patients have access to one of only three emergency rooms in the country dedicated to emergency eye care. Immediate treatment should be sought if you or someone you care about has sustained an injury to the eye, such as any of the following:

  • Chemical burns
  • Lacerations to the eye or eyelid
  • Detached or torn retina
  • Foreign object in the eye
  • Sudden loss of vision
  • Severe eyelid swelling or inability to open the eye
  • Eye problems that could be warning signs of stroke or multiple sclerosis

The Wills Eye Emergency Department at Jefferson is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We work in close collaboration with Jefferson's Comprehensive Traumatic Injury Program to care for patients with serious injuries to the eye.
