Laboratory Services to Diagnose Skin Diseases
In order to diagnose some skin diseases, many physicians turn to the Jefferson Dermatopathology Center, which consists of highly trained board-certified dermatopathologists and offers a full range of laboratory services as they pertain to diagnosing skin disease.
Receiving skin specimens from referring physicians within the region and across the country, the dermatopathologists encounter the full spectrum of skin disease that includes a wide range of inflammatory disorder and skin cancers. Our dermatopathologists offer expertise, knowledge and diagnosis of:
- Psoriasis
- Autoimmune connective tissue diseases
- Blistering diseases
- Melanomas
- Basal cell carcinoma
- Squamous cell carcinoma
- Merkel cell carcinoma
In addition, the dermatopathology laboratory serves as the educational center that provides training of medical students, residents and fellows.
