Jefferson's Department of Neurosurgery is launching a study, supported by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, that will automatically enroll people with traumatic brain injuries upon hospital admittance. Jefferson will host several community outreach events so that people who may have, or be at risk for severe brain injury are aware of the study.
What is the Study?
The Brain Oxygen Optimization in Severe Traumatic Brain Injury – Phase 3 (BOOST-3) study is designed to determine whether a treatment based on brain tissue oxygen monitoring (using technology that has been available for over 10 years) improves a person's neurological health in the most severely injured group of patients.
