Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS)

If you have been diagnosed with a cancer of the tongue, tonsil, voice box or throat, the expert surgeons within Jefferson's Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery are one of the few hospitals in the Delaware Valley to offer a new surgical procedure, transoral robotic surgery (TORS), utilizing the da Vinci® robot system.

Advantages of Transoral Robotic Surgery

TORS is a minimally invasive, robotic-assisted surgical procedure that offers you significant benefits from traditional surgical procedures. These include:

  • A more speedy return to day-to-day activities
  • Less complications, scarring and risk of infection
  • Reduced risk of long-term swallowing problems

As with any surgery, you want to ensure that your physician has had extensive experience performing the procedure. Our highly skilled surgeons have performed this procedure many times with good outcomes.
