The Jefferson Health Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology now offers Endoscopic Treatments as a part of our Comprehensive Weight Management Center. Treatment options include the following minimally invasive procedures:

  • Intragastric Balloon - An outpatient procedure in which a latex-free silicone balloon is placed into the stomach. Once inflated, the balloon lowers food intake through a number of different pathways.
  • Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty - A  new method which allows physicians to stitch the stomach into a tube (sleeve) using a scope that is passed through the mouth and esophagus.
  • Endoscopic Gastric Bypass Revision - A procedure for patients who have regained weight after a previous gastric bypass surgery. Outpatient endoscopic suturing is used to reduce the size of the gastric pouch and the size of the outlet between the gastric pouch and intestine, helping patients to lose weight again.
Endoscopic treatments may be suitable for individuals  who don't qualify for traditional bariatric surgery.  Our team of healthcare providers - including physicians, nurses and dietitians - will work together to help  patients achieve weight loss success.
These procedures are not typically covered by medical insurance.
