Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty

Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty is a new method which allows physicians to stitch the stomach into a tube (sleeve) using a scope that is passed through the mouth and esophagus.

How Does It Work?

By sewing the stomach from the inside, physicians are able to decrease the stomach to 1/3 of its normal size. The remaining gastric sleeve limits the amount of food that can be eaten and alters hunger inducing hormones.

This endoscopic procedure lowers the chance of problems and healing times as compared to the surgical approach. Patients having endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty go home either same day or within 24 hours.
