Clinical Programs

Jefferson Home Infusion Service focuses on a multidisciplinary approach to care while educating patients on their condition, treatments available and living independently.

Our specialty programs are designed to meet the varied needs of our patients and their physicians.

Our Heart Failure Program recognizes the critical nature of providing inotropic therapy at home. We place a strong emphasis on safety. Our nurses pay careful attention to educating and communicating with patients and caregivers. Our team strictly supervises the administration of therapy, closely monitors clinical status and maintains an active dialogue with the physicians.
Our team provides a full complement of therapies to support patients with digestive disorders, including antibiotics, antiemetics, hydration, total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and steroids. Our nurses administer Hepatitis B Immune Globulin, Panhematin® and Remicade® and monitor patients receiving these therapies throughout the entire infusion.
Our program addresses the unique lifestyle and medical needs of our patients. Our nurses are available to provide instruction and home visits, when needed. We ensure that patients have adequate supplies on hand, and are responsive to emergent requests. And with our local facility, we are able to respond to all requests in a timely manner.
We offer a wide array of anti-infective IV therapies with the clinical support necessary to achieve successful outcomes. Our nurses monitor all aspects of therapy and draw the requested lab work needed for safe administration. Our pharmacists monitor the results of the lab work, evaluate the pharmacokinetics, notify the physician when adjustment to therapy could be considered and provide recommendations for modifications to the prescription.
The focus of our programs is to offer patients safety and convenience when receiving IVIG, Methylprednisolone, Cyclophosphamide and other therapies in the comfort of their own homes. Our experienced clinical staff ensures that patients receiving treatment are provided with the appropriate pre-medications, and are directly monitored throughout the entire infusion of IVIG.

Our comprehensive Nutrition Support Program addresses the unique needs of patients receiving home total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and other therapies. We establish nutrient and therapy goals based on nutritional assessment and provide recommendations for formula composition and cycling. Our team performs ongoing review by monitoring clinical status, nutritional parameters and laboratory values.

Our clinicians have extensive experience in the complex clinical care of oncology patients. We offer care for patients who require monitoring of continuous chemotherapy protocols and for individuals who are unable to receive their chemotherapy in a traditional outpatient setting or prefer to receive therapy at home. Our nurses administer and monitor specific drug regimens that require close supervision and assessments to avoid complications.

We also offer comprehensive supportive therapies, including antibiotics, antiemetics, hydration, pain management, corticosteroids, total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and adjunctive therapies such as Pamidronate and Zoledronic Acid.

We actively support clinical practices with the infusion-related aspects of their research studies approved by the TJU Investigational Review Board (IRB).
