Steps to getting a Remote Medical Second Opinion Consultation

Step 1   If you would like to receive a second opinion from Dr. Sherif, please call 215-503-4779 to submit the request. A Jefferson representative will review your eligibility, provide you with the required forms and assist you through the process.

Step 2   Your local treating physician must provide a written request for a medical second opinion consultation from Dr. Sherif. After the required forms are completed, you will mail us copies of your pertinent medical records and diagnostic test results. A fee will be charged to a credit card prior to the records being reviewed.

Step 3   A Jefferson representative will contact you to set up the telephone or video discussion. A formal report containing Dr. Sherif’s assessment and recommendation(s) will be mailed or faxed to you and your local treating physician.

Katherine Sherif, MD

Dr. Katherine Sherif is Professor of Medicine and Director of Jefferson Women’s Primary Care practice, and an expert in PCOS. Dr. Sherif has treated thousands of women with PCOS successfully in the last 20 years. She founded the first center for PCOS in 2000 and has trained many physicians how to diagnose and treat women with PCOS.

PCOS is associated with irregular menstrual periods and infertility, but is also associated with a higher risk of developing diabetes. Many women with PCOS are told that the only treatment for PCOS is the birth control pill, but there are many other ways to treat PCOS.
