Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Partners With HealthFair To Offer Accessible Preventive Heart And Vascular Screenings To Delaware Valley Residents
Starting February 1, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital will partner with HealthFair, the nation's leading provider of mobile health screening services, to make screenings for heart and vascular disease as easy as getting on a bus.
According to the American Heart Association, every 25 seconds someone in the United States suffers a heart attack and every 39 seconds someone in the United States suffers a stroke. Thomas Jefferson University Hospital is teaming up with HealthFair to offer an affordable and accessible mobile health screening that includes an Electrocardiogram (EKG), Echocardiogram, Carotid Artery Ultrasound, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Ultrasound, and two other screenings.
“HealthFair is accredited by The Joint Commission, the national accrediting body for hospitals and health care organizations, and meets its high quality and performance standards,” said Howard Weitz, MD, director of the Jefferson Heart Institute and Bernard L. Segal, Professor of Clinical Cardiology. “It provides residents of our region access to heart and vascular screenings to aid in cardiovascular risk assessment, and is one of the many Jefferson Heart and Vascular programs for our tri-state community.”
Mobile health screenings provide a cost-effective and efficient way to screen area residents for life-threatening conditions. HealthFair's most popular six-test prevention package is just $179 and all six screenings take less than one hour to complete. For a small additional cost, those interested can get a full lipid panel and a five-year disease risk assessment. This is a personalized report calculating a patient's five-year risk for major diseases, including stroke, diabetes, heart disease and lung cancer and provides a road map on how to reduce the risk in each category.
“We are proud to partner with a well-respected name in cardiovascular medicine like Thomas Jefferson University Hospital,” said HealthFair President, Terry Diaz. “It presents a great opportunity to give even more people the peace of mind that comes from preventive healthcare.”
Thomas Jefferson University Hospital is sponsoring screenings in dozens of cities across Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. Screenings are currently scheduled in Philadelphia, Huntingdon Valley, Media, Narberth, Shillington, Audubon, and Allentown in Pennsylvania; Cherry Hill, Voorhees, Sewell, Blackwood and Westmont in New Jersey; and New Castle, Delaware, with more locations to be added in the coming months. To find the specific dates and locations in the area or to make an appointment, call 855-912-TEST (8378) or visit healthfair.com. Appointments are required and space is limited.
