Jonathan Fenkel, MD, Transplant Hepatologist Joins Jefferson As Director Of The Hepatitis C Center
Jonathan M. Fenkel, MD, recently joined the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and was named assistant professor of Medicine at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. Dr. Fenkel specializes in liver disease, including viral hepatitis and liver transplantation, and will serve as director of the new Jefferson Hepatitis C Center.
Dr. Fenkel, a Philadelphia-area native, is a magna cum laude graduate of Jefferson Medical College and member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He earned his bachelor's degree cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania where he was a Benjamin Franklin Scholar. He completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center, a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and a fellowship in transplant hepatology, also at Jefferson.
Dr. Fenkel has authored numerous abstracts, journal articles, and book chapters in the fields of gastroenterology and hepatology, and has presented his research at both local and national scientific meetings. He is also a reviewer for several national and international peer-reviewed publications.
Among Dr. Fenkel's many professional affiliations, he is a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American College of Physicians.
