Tests & Treatments

  • Antegrade Pyelogram
In order to assess the kidneys or ureters prior to surgery or to determine if there is a blockage, Jefferson physicians use this procedure.

  • Cystectomy
This procedure can be done robotically utilizing the da Vinci® surgical system, which allows the surgeon to view the surgical area in high definition, making the bladder removal operation very precise.

  • Cystography
This procedure, performed with an endoscope, allows physicians to assess problems with bladder emptying and urinary incontinence.

  • Cystometry
Cystometry involves having a catheter inserted into the urethra until it reaches the bladder.

  • Cystoscopy
Our urologists use both conventional white light cystoscopy and the newer blue light cystoscopy to diagnose problems with the urinary tract, bladder and the urethra.

  • InterStim
If you suffer from a neurogenic bladder or overactive bladder and have not had success with medical treatments, sacral nerve stimulation (InterStim®) may help you find relief.

  • Transurethral Needle Ablation
If you are suffering with urinary problems caused by an enlarged prostate, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), we can offer transurethral needle ablation as a potential treatment.

  • Uroflowmetry
Jefferson physicians may conduct a uroflowmetry to detect the presence of problems with your lower urinary tract, such as benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) or cancer of the prostate or bladder.
