In the United States, comprehensive public health measures have drastically reduced the rates of tuberculosis (TB). However, despite many advances in treatment and vaccinations, TB remains a major cause of illness and death worldwide, especially in Africa and Asia. If you are planning to travel outside of the United States, it is extremely important to talk with a travel medicine specialist as far in advance of your trip as possible.
For expert help regarding TB, turn to the Travel Medicine Services team at Jefferson. Our services are comprehensive and convenient. Based on where you plan to journey, we can advise you of the precautions you should take and administer the needed vaccinations – all in one visit to our Center City Philadelphia office. During your visit, our team will also provide helpful hints to keep you healthy before and during your trip.
If you are diagnosed with TB here at home, our infectious disease specialists can provide the treatment you need to recover. If you have TB due to a suppressed immune system as a result of HIV or AIDS, our specialists will work with you to coordinate your care so that you are treated optimally for your specific situation.
