Tests & Treatments

  • Bone Densitometry
    Typically done using X-rays, dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA or DXA) or by quantitative CT scanning using special software to determine bone density of the hip or spine.

  • CT Scan
    A series of X-rays that can be used to visualize nearly all parts of the body in 3-D is known as a CT scan.

  • DEXA Scan
    DEXA scans use special X-rays to measure how many grams of calcium and other bone minerals are packed into a segment of bone to detect osteoporosis.

  • Nuclear Medicine Scan
    A nuclear medicine scan is a test that produces pictures of organs and areas of the body that cannot be seen well with standard X-rays.

  • Thyroid Hormone Replacement Therapy
    If the thyroid gland is not producing enough hormones for your body's needs or the thyroid gland is no longer functioning normally due to a thyroidectomy, your physician may recommend thyroid hormone replacement therapy.

  • Thyroidectomy
    A thyroidectomy is the surgical removal of all or part of the thyroid gland to treat thyroid disorders such as cancer or an overactive thyroid.

  • Ultrasound
    An ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to look at organs and structures inside the body, including the heart, blood vessels, kidneys and liver.
