At Jefferson, we provide cardiac patients with leading-edge medical and surgical options, including heart transplants.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the US for both men and women. The three top causes of heart disease are:
- High blood pressure (hypertension).
- Coronary artery disease (narrowing of the arteries that supply blood to the heart).
- Cardiomyopathy (heart muscle disease).
If you have been diagnosed with heart failure, you want treatment from experienced physicians and access to resources and support to help you manage your care in the long term. This is what you will find at Jefferson Health.
Our cardiologists will provide individualized care to help you better manage your condition, reduce your stay in the hospital and enhance your overall quality of life. We offer a range of therapies to strengthen your failing heart and treat the underlying causes of heart failure. Your Jefferson physician will help you choose the best treatment plan, based on the progression of your heart failure and its causes.
Treatment options may include implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) and pacers, biventricular pacing (also known as cardiac resynchronization therapy), coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), heart valve repair and replacement, mechanical circulatory support (VADs) and heart transplant.
Because Jefferson is an academic medical center, you can feel confident that you are being cared for at a world-class center for the treatment of heart failure.
Continued Care After Diagnosis
