WXPN Musicians On Call is a free community-outreach program* designed to deliver the healing power of music through live early-evening performances every Wednesday and Thursday by volunteer musicians at the bedsides of Jefferson University Hospitals' patients.

Jefferson University Hospitals are proud to partner with 88.5 WXPN, the listener-supported radio station of the University of Pennsylvania, in Musicians On Call.

Musicians On Call, a nonprofit organization formed in 1999 in New York City, uses music and entertainment to promote and complement the healing process for patients.

Volunteer musicians from the Philadelphia area participate in weekly "rounds" by giving free in-room performances with a Jefferson Health volunteer who introduces the program to the patient. Musicians and volunteers visit a different hospital floor each week. Patients, family and friends, physicians, nurses, social workers or other clinicians can request a visit.

Here's how you can help Musicians On Call at Jefferson:

  • Volunteer as a musician or guide by completing the online application at www.XPN.org/moc
  • Request a visit Wednesday or Thursday by calling the Volunteer Services Office at 215-503-0556

*Made possible by the generous support of WXPN Members and Business Sponsors TIAA-CREF and AstraZeneca.
